With a lot of one-year deals expiring the team should have plenty of cap room and will likely try to land some major free agents to team up with LeBron.

Magic is out. Walton's on his last guaranteed year, IIRC.

Plenty of drama ahead.

Walton's out.

Frank Vogel is in with "prominent" assistant coach Jason Kidd.

Magic Johnson opens up on who he believes ‘betrayed’ him with the Lakers

https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nb...im-with-the-lakers/ar-AABDqeN?ocid=spartanntp

Back on April 25, just weeks after Magic Johnson stunned the NBA world by resigning as Los Angeles Lakers president - that was the infamous "I'm not gonna be here" press conference - the legendary former player tweeted "The truth will always come to light."

On Monday, it appeared he was revealing what he was teasing and boy, did he deliver on that tweet.

While appearing on ESPN's First Take, Johnson said that GM Rob Pelinka was the source of "betrayal" within the Lakers organization. Johnson claimed Pelinka said - behind Johnson's back - that Magic wasn't working hard enough and wasn't in the franchise's office enough:

"If you're going to talk betrayal, it's only with Rob [Pelinka]."

SMH Multiple mistakes.

Report: Lakers forgot about a little thing called cap space in Anthony Davis deal

https://sports.yahoo.com/report-the...ace-in-the-anthony-davis-trade-164633838.html

In the immediate aftermath of the Los Angeles Lakers’ trade for Anthony Davis this past weekend, just about everyone assumed that the deal would be structured in such a manner that they could add a third max-salaried superstar in free agency.

Except, when it comes to these Lakers, assumptions are extremely dangerous.

According to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, the Lakers did not realize an accounting error that left them without max cap space until after they agreed to their trade with the New Orleans Pelicans, and then called back in an attempt to rectify the mistake.

As it stands now, the Pelicans have not relented. And why would they when doing so would hinder their own ability to build a competitive roster over the next month?

You see, the Lakers could have created $32.5 million in cap space — enough to sign a player with 7-9 years of NBA service to a max deal (i.e., Kemba Walker, Kyrie Irving, Kawhi Leonard, Jimmy Butler, Klay Thompson, etc.) — if they negotiated July 30 as the trade completion date. That way, they could draft the No. 4 pick for New Orleans, sign him to a first-year salary of $8.2 million, wait the requisite 30 days to trade him, and then use his contract to match salaries in an even swap for Davis.

Waiting until July 30 complicates matters for the Pelicans, who would have less cap space of their own with which to pursue free agents. It also impacts their ability to add the No. 4 pick to their summer league roster or shop the pick to a third team.

Instead, the deal is scheduled to be completed when the moratorium is lifted on July 6, reportedly at the Lakers’ behest. In that scenario, they will absorb Davis’ contract into cap space and be left with $23.7 million to pursue free agents — less than the maximum salary for players of any experience.

NBA rumors: Andre Iguodala will get buyout in Memphis, sign with Lakers

https://www.yahoo.com/sports/nba-rumors-andre-iguodala-buyout-210331168.html

Andre Iguodala signed a three-year contract with the Warriors during the summer of 2017, but he will not play for them next season.

Golden State is trading the 2015 NBA Finals MVP to Memphis, a league source told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski on Sunday night.

But Iguodala might not ever put on a Grizzlies uniform.

ESPN's Stephen A. Smith said the following on his radio show Monday:

"He has basically -- according to sources -- informed everybody he's going to work out a buyout and then go to the Lakers.

"So Andre Iguodala is planning on joining the Lakers from what we're being told. I don't know how true that is, whether or not it is going to definitively happen.

"But that is the plan at this particular moment in time."

Lakers Sign Avery Bradley

https://www.nba.com/lakers/releases/190708-lakers-sign-avery-bradley

Bradley is heading to LA on a two-year, $9.7million contract once he clears waivers, his agent Bill Duffy told ESPN.

Bradley was waived by the Grizzlies on Saturday after he started the 2018-19 season with the Clippers. He was traded to Memphis in February for JaMychal Green and Garrett Temple.

While with the Grizzlies, Bradley averaged 16.1 points and four assists per game. He shot 40.8 per cent from the field and 35.1 per cent from three-point range on the season.

Report: Lakers Planning Workouts for Joakim Noah, Dwight Howard, Mo Speights

https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nb...howard-mo-speights/ar-AAG4IGW?ocid=spartanntp

The Lakers will host a trio of centers for workouts this week following DeMarcus Cousins' ACL tear, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Dwight Howard will headline the list of centers joining Los Angeles for a workout, per Wojnarowski. The Lakers will also reportedly host Joakim Noah at their facility as well as Mo Speights. Former Wizards center Marcin Gortat is also an option for Los Angeles, though he is currently overseas.
