Cardinals get a young stud DL, future starter at WR, a rotational edge player who has graded as one of the best in the nation over the past two years, and a more toolsy Chase Edmonds type back.

And they added two picks for day three.

I'm a believer that if you want a player, sometimes you have to ignore popular opinion and draft them.

Cardinals trade back twice because they want an edge and they know they can get their guy at the top of round 2.

They trade back again with their next pick and walk away with a premium G/T prospect in Tom.

West is an ascending C prospect who could step in at a G spot or replace Hudson down the road.

Those trade must to be made by the Cardinals gm and someone from the Cardinals staff possessing the other GM

This is tough because a lot of what we will do is far from what I would do. I really like McDuffie. I said in another post he reminds me of Aeneas Williams. Strange needs a year that I feel we can give him and would not shock me if he was starting by the end. Pierce gives us size and speed and is a guy who can compete with AJ Green outside and enable us to move Hopkins around in 10 personnel.

The more I watch on Pierce, the more I want him in round two.

Tough kid, super competitive, good measureables. Wouldn't bet against him being a good player. And he would be the perfect complement to the receivers the Cardinals already have.

He said he patterns his game after AJ Green and I think that's his best comparison. I also see the Jordy Nelson comp too.

McDuffie is similar to Byron Murphy, but better coming out.

I just can't shake the feeling that a top drafted corner is wasted in Vance's system, and the system works fine with adequate young guys.

He is so good off-ball that he would still be able to make plays. He is everything I want in a CB and he would win the #2 spot out of camp. That keeps Marco Wilson at #3 CB which enables Murphy to move to the slow in nickel. Also helps if we decide to let Murphy walk in FA.

I feel like my perfect draft would be

Chris Olave
Tyler Smith
Cole Strange

Immediate interior help and youth. You can walk from Pugh in the offseason if everyone develops and Tyler Smith might be able to compete with Jones at future RT.

Bernhard Raimann also has to be considered in the second round if you aren't sold on Humphries.

Just tough to pass up getting players who immediately help Kyler as well as get us out of some bad contracts

Reportedly, the Cardinals have offered a future 3rd to move up to #18.

In this mock the Cardinals do so and grab the missing piece to their WR corps, Chris Olave. He won't have to start immediately with AJ Green on the roster and can start off the season as WR 4.

Keim often talks about wanting more picks and when they get to their next pick, the Texans call and offer a 4th to move down a bit. The board has a number of players the Cardinals like equally and they oblige.

When they get to #68, the Lions call and they are desperate to move up. The Cardinals are a bit to reluctant, but they see an opportunity to fleece the Lions and ask for all of their picks this year and a 3rd next year, replacing the pick they traded to get Olave. The Lions are greedy and agree.

The Cardinals finally make a pick and this one is a pick that is a head scratcher for most of the faithful, but the know that West was one of the best IOL in college football last year. He started a ton of games for ASU, was a damn good player, and is only 20 years old. He can compete immediately at RG and be a candidate to replace Hudson down the road.

The Cardinals have missed out on some of the 2-3 talents, and instead take a gamble on DeAngelo Malone. Malone is a two time conference defensive player of the year and was incredibly productive. He has natural bend and is reminiscent of the old Steelers 3-4 backers drafted in the mid rounds years ago.

Day three sees the Cardinals fill out the back end of the roster. Mathis is a tough physical corner and has a good shot to fill out the back end of the cornerback corps, Bellinger should stick as TE3 and has solid receiving ability, Eric Johnson is an athletic long DL, Ezedu is an athlete swing G/T, and ZaQuandre White should be able to contribute as a platoon back.
