Per NFL rules, the Green Bay Packers are allowed to host up to 30 draft-eligible players (excluding “local” prospects, such as those in the UW system or nearby regional schools such as Northern Illinois) for in-person visits. The Journal Sentinel is tracking the visits and supplying profiles based on information from sources and published reports.

GREEN BAY – Growing up, Behren Morton idolized Texas Tech quarterback Graham Harrell.

Morton got to see the prolific Red Raiders quarterback throw for 5,111 yards and 45 touchdowns his senior year.

Harrell played in only four games in the NFL and they were all with the Green Bay Packers in 2012.

There’s a chance Morton could do better with the Packers.

Morton took a top-30 pre-draft visit with the Packers on April 7, according to his Instagram account.

Morton became a full-time starter at Texas Tech in part because future New Orleans Saints starter Tyler Shough was injured. Morton started four of nine games in ’22 and eight of 10 in ’23 before starting every game he played in during the ’23 and ’24 seasons.

He threw for 3,335 yards and 27 touchdowns in ’23 and 2,780 yards and 22 touchdowns in ’24.

Morton threw 28 interceptions in college, but it was on 1,263 attempts. His 2.2% interception rate would have ranked 18th in the NFL.

At 6-foot-2, 221 pounds, he has the bulk to withstand hits but may not be much of a scrambler. Injuries have affected him throughout his career, including a hairline fracture in his fibula that he played through in the team’s playoff loss to Oregon.

“It was good being back healthy,” Morton told the Daily Toreador at his pro day. “I really haven't been able to do much leading up to this. Still, at the combine, my leg was still banged up. Didn't get to test there. So, the biggest thing for me was just to get back healthy.”

It’s likely he’ll wind up as a free agent, but he’s just looking for an opening.

“That’s the same thing I talked about, having a chip on your shoulder,” Morton said. “That mindset of proving people wrong. I love when people are doubting me and think that I can’t do it. That just fires my fuel so much more.”

Behren Morton’s pro day results

  • 40-yard dash: 4.89 seconds

  • Broad jump: 9-foot-5
  • Shuttle drill: 4.41 seconds
  • Three-cone drill: 7.17 seconds
  • Arms are 30⅝ inches
  • Hands are 9½ inches
