The Texas football program is riding a wave of momentum on the recruiting trail.
Numerous reports have surfaced over the last month where highly rated recruits have enjoyed their visit to Texas and/or have placed the Longhorns among their top schools.
Earlier this week, a massive recruiting prediction was entered for five-star tight end Mark Bowman. The Mater Dei (Santa Ana, CA) product is ranked the No. 1 tight end in the nation for the 2026 recruiting class, according to 247Sports. Oregon insider Max Torres, whom many feel is deeply connected with Southern California recruiting, entered a prediction for the Longhorns to land Bowman with a 60% confidence level.
On3's recruiting prediction machine currently lists Texas as the favorite in Bowman's recruitment with a 90% chance of landing him.
The 6-foot-4, 225-pound tight end recently re-classified from the 2027 class to the 2026 class. According to 247Sports national recruiting analyst Greg Biggins, Bowman has the chance to finish as the highest rated tight end to come out of California in the last decade.
In 2024, Bowman was a MaxPreps All-America second-team selection and recorded 32 receptions for 435 yards and eight touchdowns. He averaged 13.6 yards per reception.
Bowman has an official visit scheduled with Texas in June. He will also take official visits to USC, Georgia and Oregon. Considering Bowman has been drawing comparisons to former Georgia tight end Brock Bowers, this would be a massive recruiting win for Steve Sarkisian's staff at a position of need.
