With the college football offseason now in full swing, the Texas Longhorns have been one of the busiest teams on the recruiting trail. While they have been making headlines with the 2027 class, they have also been focused on the 2028 class. On Sunday, that continued when the Longhorns offered talented linebacker Tahj Gray.

Currently, the New Jersey native is ranked as the second-best linebacker in the 2028 class by 247Sports. They also rank Gray as the third-best player from New Jersey and the 39th-best player in the nation. With two years remaining in his high school career, the Longhorns target should continue to improve. As head coach and Steve Sarkisian look to land a commitment from Gray, they will face competition.

The four-star recruit has received offers from Florida State, Illinois, Duke, Boston College, Michigan, Michigan State, and Nebraska. That list could grow the longer Gray's recruitment stays open. Now the focus for Texas will be to get the St. Joseph Regional High product to campus for a visit.

As Gray has been a human highlight reel, he has caught the attention of scouts. He played in the FBU Freshman All-American Bowl in December, where he shined. The Montvale native was named a top performer by 247Sports.

Although the Longhorns have not landed a recruit in the 2028 class yet, they have been busy making connections. Texas has made offers to four-star recruits such as Bryan Wright, Jaylen Addai, Braxton Rein, King Pitts, and Jalanie George. Adding anyone from that group would be a major boost.

Over the next few months, Texas will be a team to watch as Gray continues to weigh his options. He has a very bright future ahead, and the Longhorns hope it includes a stop in Austin.
