Although March Madness is over for the Texas Longhorns, they are still making headlines. On Sunday, Tramon Mark was rewarded for his stellar play. The talented senior was named to the All-Regional West team. While Mark would prefer to still be chasing a national title, the reward comes as no surprise given how well he played once the calendar flipped to March.
During the Longhorns' tournament run, Mark averaged 17.8 points and four rebounds per game. He was also very efficient from three-point range, shooting 47 percent from beyond the arc. While the Texas native filled up the stat sheet, he came through in clutch moments, helping extend the Longhorns' tournament run.
His clutch shooting was on display against NC State, with the Longhorns in need of a win. With less than five seconds left, Mark drained a long-range jumper, giving Texas a 68-66 lead. His shooting not only gave fans a reason to celebrate but ensured that the Longhorns would face BYU in the Round of 64.
With his latest honor, Mark is now part of an elite group. The other players on the All-Regional West Team are Jaden Bradley, Braden Smith, Koa Pet, and Trey Kaufman-Renn. Over the last few weeks, that group has provided fans with countless unforgettable moments.
For Mark, it was a well of an ending as he could have hoped for in his Longhorns career. He was injured during Texas's loss to Purdue and still managed to score 29 points while shooting 73.3 percent from the field. He finished tournament play with 52 points and made an impact every time he stopped on the court.
As Mark prepares for life after the Longhorns, he can look back on his time in Austin with fond memories and some extra hardware from his play.
