Better late than never? In a rare move, the Texas Longhornshave added a late addition to the 2026 recruiting class. EDGE Brinley Tita has committed to Texas. The Humble, Texas native is a late addition because he played the wrong position in high school.
At 6-foot-2, 225 pounds, Tita was one of the biggest players on his tea at Humble Summer Creek. While high school coaches try to put everyone in the right position, the coach also has to win. Tita played defensive tackle in high school out of necessity. But based on his body, size and speed, he should be an EDGE.
Without any offers from big schools, Tita contemplated accepting offers from Division II or Division III schools. Instead he signed to play at Cisco Junior College. He planned to develop there and try to get a Division I scholarship down the line.
But Texas has a connection to the player through EDGE coach LaAllan Clark. As the staff decided they could use another EDGE in the 2026 class, the Longhorns reached out and extended an offer. It didn't take long for Tita to accepte.
Even out of position, Tita had a strong senior year, with 86 tackles, 11 sacks and he earned 6A All-State Honorable Mention on the defensive line. He was named District Defensive Player of the Year in 2023. He also won district in the shot put with a throw of 51-0.

“Man, once I got the offer, it felt amazing,” Tita told Inside Texas. “I knew it was a done deal as soon as I got that offer from Coach Clark. You do not turn down an opportunity like this, the biggest stage to go prove yourself at the best university.”
