Texas A&M softball has one more series left before the SEC Tournament and it's against one of the more consistent teams in the conference, Tennessee.
The Lady Vols (39-11, 14-7), ranked fourth in the ESPN/USA Softball poll, are in the running for the regular season champions for the SEC, along with Texas A&M and Oklahoma. Tennessee (39-11, 14-7) has won the last two regular-season conference crowns in the previous two seasons.
Junior Karlyn Pickens (20-6, 1.02 ERA) is the star pitcher for Tennessee and also holds the record for the fastest pitch recorded in a softball game at 78.2 miles per hour on March 28, 2025. The Lady Vols also have Taylor Pannell, a redshirt sophomore, who leads the team in RBIs (59) and home runs (15).

Expecting to make the postseason, Tennessee has notched impressive SEC conference wins against Oklahoma and Texas. But they currently hold the No. 10 spot in RPI, while Texas A&M (41-8, 14-6) holds strong at No. 1.
The Aggies did not play their best softball last weekend against Arkansas because of dirty defense and big Razorback swings. They got the momentum back with Emiley Kennedy's lights-out pitching and "getting the big hit when we needed it" in the form of a Mac Barbara home run.
Texas A&M is 10-1 in road games this season and that record will be put to the test in Knoxville, Tenn. The Aggies have shown they can gut out wins, but with the postseason around the corner, every game is going to matter going forward, especially for a team with Oklahoma City aspirations.
