Texas A&M softball clobbered Marist on Saturday, 17-4, and will once against try to beat Liberty to seal a spot in the NCAA Super Regionals.
The Aggies hit four homers against the Red Foxes, sealing the mercy-rule victory with a 10-run fourth inning. After losing to Liberty to start the day, it appears A&M let out some frustrations in the elimination game. A&M scored four times in the first inning and outhit Marist 17-5 during the game.
Emily Leavitt (5-2) picked up the win. She went three innings and allowed three runs on four hits and two walks. She struck out three batters before giving way to Grace Sparks and Sydney Lessentine. Catcher Mac Barbara and first baseman Amari Harper each drove in five runs for the Aggies.
Following an 8-5 upset loss to Liberty — in which the top-seeded Aggies blew a 4-0 lead then collapsed in the sixth inning, allowing five Liberty runs — A&M will get a chance at revenge in front of a national audience. Sunday's game in College Station is scheduled for 3 p.m. on ESPN2.
