Texas A&M softball finally has some good news in the circle. After back‑to‑back postseason exits on their home field and a rotation thinned by graduation and the transfer portal, head coach Trisha Ford entered the offseason with one priority. Experience.
On Saturday morning, the Aggies landed exactly that.
Former Texas State ace Madison Azua has committed to transfer to Aggieland, giving A&M an immediate, battle‑tested left‑hander with one of the most durable résumés in the country. Across four seasons in San Marcos, Azua logged 116 appearances, 80 starts, 35 complete games, and 511.1 career innings, compiling a 55–26 record as the Bobcats’ unquestioned workhorse.
Her 2026 campaign was the best of her career. Azua posted a 1.95 ERA over 244.2 innings, striking out 236 while issuing just 57 walks, finishing the year 26–13. Her dominance earned her four Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week honors, an All‑Conference First Team selection, and the title of 2026 Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Year.
With Taylor Pannell and Grace Sparks graduating and Kate Munnerlyn currently in the transfer portal, Azua’s arrival fills a critical need for a staff short on veteran innings. She immediately becomes one of the most experienced arms Ford has added during her tenure.
