No. 15 Texas A&M (26-7, 7-5 SEC) heads back to Blue Bell Park after falling to Texas State on Tuesday night, dropping its first midweek game of the season, and will now host No. 2 Texas and former head coach Jim Schlossnagle, who will make his return to College Station for first time since departing after the Aggies' historic 2024 season.
Aside from the emotions that will be in full force from the Aggie fan base, starting on Friday night, Texas A&M coach Michael Earley and his veteran team are completely focused on the Longhorns' elite pitching staff, while Earely's decision to mix up his starters on the mound includes sophomore Aiden Sims now starting on Saturday, while Sunday's starter has yet to be announced.
This leaves the usual Saturday starter, Weston Moss, available on either day. If Friday starter Shane Sdao, who struggled against Vanderbilt last week, continues to put the Aggies in a hole, Moss will likely be the second option to provide stability in Game 1, or possibly Game 2.
Throughout the season, Texas A&M's roster has dealt with injury issues, especially on the mound, already losing pitchers Caden McCoy and veteran Josh Stewart for the season. However, after Chris Hacopian returned to the lineup, fellow transfer Wesley Jordan also returned after missing several games, while freshman Jorian Wilson has been impressive as a key starting/depth piece.
On Thursday, the latest SEC Availability Report revealed that both Texas A&M and Texas are healthy outside of long-term injuries to Josh Stewart and Caden McCoy, while the Longhorns will be without dual-sport outfielder Jonah Williams. Texas starting infielder Aiden Rodriguez will also be available after missing last week.
