Texas A&M (11-9) got the job done during its midweek matchup vs. Texas A&M Corpus-Christi on Tuesday night, defeating the visitors 17-7 in a run-rule victory that will hopefully result in some much-needed momentum heading into this weekend's road test vs. Vanderbilt.

Overall, the Aggies didn't look impressive in the first frame after giving up an RBI double, leading to an early 2-0 deficit. However, A&M's bats came alive, starting with Terrence Kiel's RBI and leading to Gavin Kash, Hayden Schott, and Kaeden Kent delivering five runs to take a 6-2 lead, all in the bottom of the first.

Defensively, Texas A&M's error issues resulted in the Islanders tying the game 6-6 and taking their final lead after a solo home run in the top of the third. On the mound, head coach Michael Earley went with freshman Aiden Sims, who lasted 1.2 innings after giving up five hits and six earned runs, as former Washington pitcher Grant Cunningham entered for the final five innings in his best showing on the year.

Allowing Corpus-Christi's seventh run of the game, Cunningham struck out two while allowing just three hits, finishing the game due to the run-rule.

What has been the case in two consecutive midweek matchups, Texas A&M's offense exploded for double-digit runs, led by catcher Bear Harrison's first two home runs of his Aggie career. At the same time, Gavin Kash nearly delivered two home runs of his own.

The play of the night was by Islanders outfielder Christian Smith-Johnson, who caught what would have been Kash's first home run after leaping out of bounds for the grab. However, Kash was granted a single due to Johnson falling out of bounds.

While it isn't an SEC win, the Aggies needed to get back on track after being swept by Alabama at home last weekend. With Vanderbilt looming, the hope is that this offensive eruption carries over to Nashville.

Texas A&M will face Vanderbilt on Friday, March 21, for Game 1 of the series at 6:00 p.m. CT. The game will stream on SEC Network+.
