The Houston Texans are primed for a playoff return in the upcoming season. The schedule allows it. More importantly, the team's player retention could facilitate a postseason run.

The players most everyone is counting one raise the floor of expectation for Houston heading into the year. One player that could raise the Texans' ceiling is making waves in offseason practices.

Texans wideout Tank Dell is not a player everyone expects to star in the upcoming season. He's making an impression in recent practice updates. Here's what Jobe Morrison of The Big Lead had to say about Dell's offseason showcase through early June.

"The NFL offseason workout period has featured several players working their way back from significant injuries. The Houston Texans are seeing encouraging progress from one of their biggest stars. Wide receiver Tank Dell missed the entire 2025 season while recovering from a devastating knee injury suffered late in 2024.

On Thursday, Dell took a major step forward in his recovery. Reports indicate that he participated in positional drills during the Texans’ OTA sessions this week. While the drills remain non-contact, Dell’s involvement marks a significant milestone for one of quarterback C.J. Stroud’s favorite targets.

Dell still has hurdles to clear before he is fully cleared for football activities, but Thursday’s update represents a major step in the right direction. If he can return to form, could the CJ Stroud to Tank Dell connection help transform the Texans offense back into one of the NFL’s most exciting and explosive units?"

Dell makes the Texans offense a lot more imposing. The offense is already explosive with three consecutive 1,000-yard receiver Nico Collins leading the way. Adding another player who can score in one play could force a more conservative approach to stopping the offense and create more opportunity for new running back addition David Montgomery.

The Texans wideout, of course, suffered a gruesome injury when he last took the field. The brutal scene led some to wonder if he would ever play again or return to the same level of effectiveness. Dell's presence at practice paired with his ability to move in drills provides reason to believe he could contribute at a high level again soon.

Houston is a great team without Dell and proved it last season. Perhaps adding him to what it already has will be the catalyst that lifts the Texans to a memorable playoff run.
