Jayden Higgins might have to show his former Iowa State teammate their new home next week. After all, he was the first of two Cyclones pass-catchers to join the Houston Texans on Saturday night.
After securing a receiver for the outside, the Texans doubled down at pick No. 89 to select slot receiver Jaylin Noel. The shifty 5-foot-10 target now should compete for reps in the slot with newly acquired Christian Kirk.
A former All-Big 12 receiver, Noel ran a 4.39 in the 40-yard dash at the combine and had a 41.5-inch vertical jump, which ranked No. 1 among receivers at the combine. He was also one of college football's top weapons, totaling 80 catches for 1,194 yards and eight touchdowns in his final season at Iowa State.
For weeks, a number of players were mocked to the Texans, from defensive tackles to offensive tackles and yes, even wide receivers. Noel was one Texans Wire believed could have been in play in the second round at No. 58 before the draft began. Now, to comes just a tad later for incredible value.
