Another wide receiver prospect has dropped by NRG Stadium ahead of next week's draft.
According to KPRC2 Sports' Aaron Wilson, the Houston Texans recently hosted Ole Miss wide receiver Tre Harris for a top-30 visit. Harris is expected to be a second-round pick, likely falling in line with where Houston selects at No. 58 overall.
Per Wilson, the 6-foot-2 Louisiana product also has visits lined up with the Chicago Bears and Washington Commanders.
After starting his career off at Louisiana Tech, Harris transferred to Ole Miss in 2023. He immediately became the Rebels' top weapon, hauling in over 55 passes for 985 yards and eight touchdowns while helping the program secure its first 11-win season.
In 2024, Harris was named a second-team All-American selection and third-team All-Southeastern Conference after catching 60 passes for 1,030 yards and seven touchdowns despite missing five games with an injury. He was on pace to break Ole Miss' single-season record in nearly every receiving category before a hamstring injury limited his on-field success starting in October.
The Texans need another outside weapon to pair with Nico Collins. Christian Kirk should be a lock to start in the slot, but with Tank Dell expected to miss all of 2025, Houston can't afford to give C.J. Stroud another season with only John Metchie III, Xavier Hutchinson and a slew of lower-tier receivers opportunities to impress.
Harris excels at deep routes and at contested catches. Last season, he averaged over 18 yards a reception while helping Jaxson Dart garner Day 1 buzz. He also showed off the straight-line speed by running a 4.54 40-time during last month's combine.
The Texans own seven picks in the upcoming draft, including four in the top 100. If all goes according to plan, one pick will be for a pass-catcher to elevate C.J. Stroud's play.
Perhaps that player is Harris in Round 2.

The appeal of Tre Harris in one play:
- Footwork, shoulder dip and burst on the release
- Speed and leverage to stack the DB
- Elite hands and ball tracking to make a difficult over the shoulder catch
