The Houston Texans have made a huge decision regarding their standout rookie safety ahead of the playoff matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Several hours before kickoff on Monday, the Texans announced that rookie safety Jaylen Reed, who has missed the past five games after breaking a metal plate in his forearm, has been activated off injured reserve and will play against the Steelers in the wild-card game.

Selected with the 187th overall pick in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, Reed received his first starting opportunity in the game in which he was injured after his electric performance against the Buffalo Bills in Week 12, where he recorded 12 combined tackles and a fumble recovery. He broke the metal plate in his forearm the following week against the Indianapolis Colts.

The Texans also announced a few other roster moves before their playoff matchup against the Steelers, including the decision to waive a defensive lineman and elevate another.
