While the NBA offseason is getting closer by the day, players and teams around the league are beginning to look for moves to better their chances at hoisting the Larry O’Brien trophy in the coming season. But the players aren’t the only ones in the association who are allowed to move between teams, as there tend to be several coaching changes over the few months between campaigns.

This offseason will most likely be no different, especially if a recent report is true. As reported by The Stein Line, Terry Stotts wants to get his old job back with the Portland Trail Blazers.

“Former Blazers head coach Terry Stotts is indeed trying to get the Portland job for the second time after leaving his post this week as an assistant on Steve Kerr's Golden State staff,” explained Marc Stein.

Stotts was the head coach in Portland from 2012 to 2021, standing in the coach’s box for 720 games, posting a record of 402-318, while making it to 62 playoff appearances over the nine-season stretch. Following his time in the Pacific Northwest, Stotts was picked up by the Golden State Warriors as an assistant coach.

This news came after it was reported earlier in the month by Jake Fischer that interim head coach Tiago Splitter was not “expected” to return for the 2026-27 season. The Brazilian manager came in during the early parts of the 2025-26 season, after Chauncey Billups was placed on immediate leave following a gambling investigation.

Under Splitter, the Trail Blazers made it to the first round of the playoffs after finishing the regular season with a record of 42-39. Portland’s management will be one of the storylines to follow in the upcoming offseason.
