LOOGOOTEE - The Barr-Reeve Vikings were the first area tennis team to advance to the finals of the Loogootee tennis sectional.
Barr-Reeve took all five spots 6-0 and 6-0 except one against Paoli, under hot and humid conditions. Belen Navarro, Brylee Fuhrman and Brynnlee Rollins all won, 0-0 in the three singles spots.
Shay Knepp and Anniston Kelso took the top singles spot, 6-2 and 6-0, while Ava Graber and Anna Sward, won 0 and 0.
“The Lady Vikings started sectional play with a strong win over Paoli. The girls at all five positions played well and competed hard,” said B-R coach Tim Swartzentruber.
In the North Daviess-Loogootee match, weather did play a factor.
The match was suspended and will be finished on Wednesday with the championship being played on Thursday at 5 p.m.
