As the Tennessee Titans work through solidifying their coaching staff for 2026, it seems that defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson will not be retained going forward.

From earlier on Next Man Up:#Titans have informed Dennard Wilson he will not be retained. Look for asst DB coach Tony Oden to remain on the staff. Oden and Robert Saleh worked together both in SF and with the NYJ. https://t.co/1S3EnPeYlu

After discussing how Tony Oden was with the new Titans' head coach, Robert Saleh, in San Francisco in 2020, and stayed with him when he went to the New York Jets in 2021, Turron Davenport goes on to say, "Dennard Wilson was told that he won't be retained. I know he was in the mix for a couple of jobs, possibly going home to the DC-area.

"Tracy Rocker, from what I understand, is not likely to be back either."

The conversation continues regarding potential coaching changes on the defensive side of the ball, but what the Titans have to do now is find a defensive coordinator to add to their staff.

After a successful first season under Wilson, a season where they ranked second in yards allowed and second in passing defense, the second season saw a massive regression. From one of the top defenses in the league in 2024, the 2025 Titans ranked mid-to-low-tier in yards allowed and passing defense, and ranked 28th in points allowed. From a top-tier defense to below average, it's not a surprise that Wilson won't be back in 2026.

There will be other coaching staff changes as Robert Saleh builds his team in the coming weeks, and you can expect some faces from his past to arrive in Nashville for the 2026 season.
