Fresh off their rookie minicamp, the Tennessee Titans made a few roster moves on Monday, signing two of their 11 tryout invites to undrafted rookie free agent (UDFA) deals.
The Titans added TCU tight end Drake Dabney and UConn wide receiver TJ Sheffield to their 90-man roster and waived cornerback UDFAs Virgil Lemons and safety Jerrin Thompson.
Dabney is an experienced tight end with 53 games of experience (37 starts) under his belt between Baylor and TCU. The 6-foot-5, 253-pound prospect is well-rounded and has shown the ability to play in-line and produce as a receiver. In his career, he pulled in 84 passes for 1,066 yards and eight touchdowns. He will wear No. 86 with the Titans.
Sheffield is coming home to Tennessee after spending his college career in the north. The Thompson Station, Tennessee native was one of the best high school players in the state before leaving for Purdue and was a finalist for Tennessee Titans Mr. Football as a senior (Independence High School). He transferred from Purdue to UConn prior to the start of the 2024 season.
The 5-foot-10, 190-pound wide receiver has proven to be a dynamic weapon, flashing a combination of speed, route running, and elusiveness that allowed him to produce as both a wideout and return specialist in college. He finished his college career with 172 receptions for 1,714 yards and 14 touchdowns.
