Tennessee basketball has hired former TCU graduate assistant Chris Parker as its new assistant director of player development, the program announced on May 28.

Parker replaced former assistant Riley Collins, who spent two years in the role and was a former graduate assistant at Tennessee. Collins joined Justin Gainey's staff at NC State as an assistant coach.

"Our staff is excited to have Chris join us here in Knoxville," Barnes said in a school news release. "He stood out to us as the ideal candidate to fill this position and we believe he will provide a great deal of value for our program. An excellent player at both the collegiate and professional levels, Chris brings a diverse background within the industry and an evident passion for the sport."

Before his one-year stint as a graduate assistant at TCU, Parker played overseas in the Proliga in Portugal and in the Georgia Super League. In college, Parker led Liberty to an Atlantic Sun Conference championship and an NCAA Tournament berth in 2021. The 6-foot-1 guard from Plano, Texas averaged 10.3 points and 3.4 assists.

"I feel truly blessed to have this amazing opportunity to join such a storied program," Parker said. "I want to thank Rick Barnes and the entire coaching staff for their confidence in me. I look forward to doing everything I can to help Tennessee continue its tremendous success and pursuit of championships."
