Teddy Bridgewater is likely headed for retirement.
The veteran journeyman quarterback informed the Detroit Lions that he plans to step away from the team, head coach Dan Campbell told reporters on Aug. 9. The 33-year-old was in line to be Detroit's backup behind starter Jared Goff.
NFL Media insider Ian Rapoport reported that "retirement (is) likely" for Bridgewater, who signed a one-year, $1.8 million deal with the Lions in March.
Bridgewater appeared in four games for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2025, going 8-for-15 on pass attempts for 62 yards. He also tallied three rushes for four yards.
