INDIANA — More than 100 athletes, Unified partners, coaches and support staff with Team Indiana will depart Friday from Indianapolis International Airport for the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games in Minneapolis.

Special Olympics Indiana is a nonprofit organization that is part of the global Special Olympics movement, created by the Joseph P. Kennedy Jr. Foundation for the benefit of persons with intellectual disabilities.

Team Indiana takes part Saturday in the Opening Ceremony at the University of Minnesota, which is expected to be broadcast starting at 8:30 p.m. ET on the ABC/ESPN family of networks.

Competition kicks off in 16 sports on Monday, June 22. While no Elkhart County athletes are listed in the delegation, Team Indiana competes in 10 sports: Basketball, bocce, bowling, cornhole flag football, golf, powerlifting, soccer, swimming and track and field. Part of the Indiana delegation also is attending the Youth and Adult Leadership Experiences.

There are 111 members of the Team Indiana delegation.
