TE Jeff King Injured in Workouts

Stephen Spach was not great by any stretch but to me he is of the same quality as the current Todd Heap and stayed healthy...though I would give a slight nod to Heap's blocking ability

Not the best news, but in no way, shape or form the worst.

King will not be back by TC....no stinking way. A partial tear after surgery the min recovery is 4 months to get back to 100% ....it'll be August at the earliest...more likely mid Sept. He's gonna fight the pain in that leg all season...he's gonna be limited.

If they are talking he'll be AT TC...sure....running with the 1's...if you wanna bet let me know.

Since we don't know when it actually happened, he could be back next week. All the reports say it happened wile training and he already had surgery.

That is from this morning and makes no mention of when it actually happened, but that it was already fixed.

While we'll miss King for a while, I think Heap is being given some undue hate here, at least in comparison to King. Heap was ailing all year, and when healthy, had some solid plays. I recall King's best production coming on plays where the opposing defense was just so out of position that King was wide open, and it was a pitch and catch that most any player should have made.

That's not to say that he doesn't have tremendous value as a blocker, and that Heap and Housler aren't going to fill that void. But Jeff King isn't much of an offensive weapon from the standpoint of going out there and getting the ball.

I do wish him a speedy recovery, but I'll be excited for Housler to get some more reps.

If King is getting wide open because defenses aren't covering him when the Cards send him out in a pattern that's an offensive weapon. Especially when it worked 27 times. I don't know how much that will work this season because he had those 27 catches and 3 TDs and Heap added another 25 receptions and Housler was open 3-4 times on deep routes and teams will see that on film. Before DC's could basically just ignore our TEs. I doubt they'll do that now.

I think that's the problem. Todd Heap is never healthy, and he takes practice reps away from a guy like Housler, and he takes Jeff King off the field in order to get his ceremonial start.

Todd Heap made $1 million more than King last year in salary and bonus. Was his play worth nearly twice as much as King's?
