The Syracuse Orange women’s basketball team is officially going dancing.
Syracuse is heading off to Storrs, CT and will be a nine-seed in the 2026 NCAA Tournament. It will face off against the eighth-seeded Iowa State Cyclones. It’s the second time the Orange have earned a trip to the Big Dance in coach Felisha Legette-Jack’s tenure.
This is also the Orange’s 14th NCAA Tournament appearance in program history.
The Orange will be in Region 1 and on the same side of the bracket as the top overall seed in the tournament this year: the UConn Huskies.
Syracuse is 2-0 versus Iowa State all-time. It last played the Cyclones in 2023-24, winning by 12 in a neutral-site contest.
We do have two other pieces of women’s basketball news to share with you.
The first isn’t great for the Orange heading into the tournament. During the Orange’s March Madness watch party, FLJ announced starting guard Dominique Darius will be out for all of March Madness.
Darius was injured during Syracuse’s game versus California in the Second Round of the ACC Tournament. Darius did not play in the ACC Tournament Quarterfinals against Louisville. She currently ranks first in assists, third in scoring, steals and rebounds, and fourth in minutes per game. Her absence will be a notable one for ‘Cuse.
Her future with the program going forward is currently up in the air. While she is set to be out of eligibility, Darius and the team are making an effort to get her a fifth year.
On a more positive note, associate head coach Natasha Adair is getting some recognition at the national stage.
Adair was one of 20 people named to the Advancing Beyond In Sports Women’s Basketball Assistant Coaches watch list. The list typically includes top men’s and women’s head coaches plus assistants from college and professional sports, according to ABIS, a non-profit organization. Adair joined Legette-Jack’s staff before this season.
