The #1 seeds havent played against each other since 1993. So the odds of Pats vs. Dallas is against the odds.
I am going with Packers v. Pats.
Favre goes out with a bang getting Super Bowl ring, Super Bowl MVP, and the story book ending of beating the dominate and heavily favored 18-0 Pats.
Just sounds to story book for it not to be true.

Green Bay? Gag me. Anybody but, except for the felons. Midwesterners seem to have this lovey feely squishy thing for Green Bay.
Holmgren was smart and left as soon as he could.
All the old longtime midwest teams leave me uninterested. Bears, Vikings, Packers, Steelers, all of them.
Favre is a cool guy. Shame he had to spend his whole career in Green Bay. He'd have won anywhere and still been a cool guy.

I think Dallas is being really overlooked but they will have Owens, Glenn, Crayton and their stud TE in home games throughout the playoffs. It's going to be hard for any of the NFC teams to keep up with that offense. That's not even mentioning Barber and Jones. They'll come out rusty in the beginning of their first game but will get it rolling and dominate to get to the Super Bowl.
Indy is, and will remain, the champs after beating NE on the road. Their cover 2 will slow the Cowboys down just enough and they will win a Super Bowl V re-match.

Sounds like you have had a bad experience in the Midwest.

Naw. It's their lying, haughty, braggadocio fans I despise. They claim to be more loyal and better than anyone else.
Yet, when the Bears are losers, they often have up to 17,000 no-shows in Soldier field. That in a metropolitan area of over 20 million? Great fans.
In this morning's paper here there is an article about droves of Pittsburgh fans selling their seats to tonight's playoff game at cost on ebay and other internet sites.
And, HORRORS!, the team has put up playoff seats for sale, with some still remaining late yesterday. That, cough, cough, means the game wasn't sold out. Great fans. Can you spell f r o n t r u n n e r s?
In their defense, Pitt is a small city, without a big metro area to draw from and it's cold there at night.
Somehow, I think the fan response there would be different if their playoff prospects were better.
Sports hatreds are strong. Mine are rooted in years of being ridiculed for being a Cards fan right here in Phoenix by the hordes of transplanted midwesterners.

If Ron Wolf would have retired a few years earlier, Packer CEO Bob Harlan would have given Holmgren the GM/coach title he wanted and Holmgren would have stayed. Holmgren wanted the GM power more than he wanted out of Green Bay.
You have some interesting comments about Midwesterners. I’d say Packer fans today are just as bad as any other fans, except for Eagles fans which to me are the worst fans of any sport in my opinion.
I think nowadays all teams for all sports have fickle fans. With the big money athletes make nowadays, the “me first” attitude by players, and the trouble with the law by a lot of athletes, fans of all sports teams aren’t as patient or as loyal anymore.
Favre has spoiled a lot of Packer fans over the years with only 1 losing season during his career. Especially the younger fans who didn’t live through the losing of the 70s and 80s. A lot of them won’t realize what they took for granted over the years until after he retires. They are 13-3 and there are still a ton of fans whining about one thing or another with the Packers. Half of them are still complaining they didn’t try harder to get Randy Moss. The other half didn’t want him because of his mooning incident at Lambeau Field with the Vikings.
With the rise of the internet and Ebay, I see more opposing fans in Lambeau Field nowadays than I did in the 70s and 80s when they were bad but still sold out. Packer fans today are just as greedy to make a buck selling some of their season tickets as anyone else.
There might be higher attendance numbers at sporting events, but I think the amount of loyal fans for every team dwindles each year for a variety of reasons. I think loyalty in sports in general dwindles each year too. Just look at the way some of these coaches like Nick Saban and Patrino sneak off to different teams.

it looks like there were a lot of frontrunners waving that terrible towell in the crowd tonight. do you not think that maybe there are some die hard pitt fans that paid high dollar for some of those tix on ebay? ebay is big business now. now the bandwagon fans who are natives from other markets are another story.
you do make some good points. In a market like GB or dallas you know you are going to sale out games. and you know many are going to pay whatever price they have to. I can't blame season tix holders for putting their tix on stub hub or ebay. that's part of the luxury of having season tix. if you are a die hard that can't miss a game then you go every time. I think Owens, Glenn, Crayton, Witten, Barber and Jones will be a tough offense to slow down once/if they get their timing down. I see Crayton being open ALL the time next week.

Houdini, in my opinion, Ron Wolf and George Young were the two best GMs in my football lifetime.

yeah. the giants haven't figured them out yet. between owens and witten alone......they usually only cover one of those guys. if owens and glenn can get it together on the field at the same time that would be great. and yes, crayton will get lost back there. he's at his best when he's the 2nd or third option. If owens isn't able to play this week that could be serious trouble for dallas IMO.
