Suns set to add talent?

I am new to this board. There seems to be a lot of very knowledgable basketball fans here, as opposed to on other message boards where the immaturity is pretty rampant. I am very excited to see what the Suns do in the next two weeks. I am hoping for Kobe, but I am leery that he will sign back with the Lakers. I guess are next best options are Nash ($9M) and Okur ($7M)? If not that combo, how how about Barry ($4-5M), Okur ($7-8M), and Foyle ($2-3M)? Thoughts? Dave

I would want to go for Nash/Camby/Foyle or even Nash/Camby/Divac if Divac doesn't ask for that much. A possibly I think if you offer him a multi-year deal and have 2 other serbians on your team or still in europe.

SlinSlin, I have seen your posts all over espn BB boards. You make a lot of insightful comments! Vlade would be okay. Camby would be great, but his injury history reminds me of Googs, etc. What do you guys think of Foyle?

Nash seems to be the Suns' #2 option right now. It scares me that the Suns are trying to outbid Mark Cuban, but who knows...his presence would be a positive one, at least.

Most people like Brent Barry as a fall-back, but Barry has a lot of suitors. He's been asking for a 4-year contract starting at the MLE, and it looks like he might get it, too.


At center, the consensus seems to be that Camby is the best fit, but too injury-prone. The Suns don't seem to be going after him anyway.

Okur seems to be too white for the tastes of most posters here, and the rest seem to think that Lampe should be starting at C anyway.

Dampier gets a surprising amount of love--I guess because he's the least white of the available centers--but a lot of people think he's a bust waiting to happen, too.

I guess it's assumed that Foyle, Etan Thomas and Mark Blount will all get the MLE or close to it. Each has his supporters, but I haven't seen anybody come out and state publicly that any of those centers would be a permanent solution as a starter.


Right now it's Kobe Kobe Kobe, though. It's hardly worth the effort to post about anything else around here.

I think if Kobe does not return to the Lakers (the most likely senerio) the Suns have a excellent chance to sign him. I think right now the Suns and the Spurs are probably his best options outside of re-signing with the Lakers.

The Suns need a little veteran leadership and I think there are a number of options there (Kobe, Nash, Barry, Camby, Wallace). I am not a big fan of Dampier or Foyle but for the projected money I would choose Foyle over Dampier.

Don't get your hope TOO high, we can get pretty childish here at times ourselves.

Seriously, many visitors to this board have made similar comments. There actually is real dialogue going on here where well presented ideas can and do persuade people. It's a great group, so feel free to contribute.
