Yeah. I'm still skeptical of him and that guy is higher on him than most, but that section on his instincts with screens really has me intrigued. One of the things I really took for granted with Amare was his instincts in the pnr and knack for finding gaps to get open when his teammates drive.

i was thinking this during round 1 then again this morning - i think ryan dunn is going to be an excellent mentor/example for the 2 new rooks - the confidence primarily - you gotta believe it to achieve it - the ocd type countless hours of practice and preparation he picked up from book and kd - another big one is being able to lock in because flemming is going to meet a chill dunn in the locker room and a completely different dunn on the hardwood - dunn is the mindset im after - dunn is the bought in locked in do everything to win mindset i wanna see - so tired of the timidness - let book cook but the youth lead the way - fierce relentless undeniable effort basketball coupled with a well coached design to limit turnovers
I think Brooks will be great for these guys to show that tenacity (minus the umm cheap shots).
I'm actually not going to mind a little chippyness from the Suns. It's been missing for a couple seasons.

He was the last tough guy we had. I guess Plumlee flashed that once with the Adams take down. But really, if we keep Brooks on the roster, he will be filling that Crowder role in spades.
I think Plumlee was just frustrated with his team like we were.
Meanwhile, Bol Bol is just standing under the hoops practicing lay ups.

Yeah, on one hand you gotta be mad he didn't support his teammate. On the other hand, he was getting in practice whenever he could. You have to admire his dedication to his craft.I think Plumlee was just frustrated with his team like we were.

I find it odd that people are worried that we are now too deep at center, we've got a log jam...

We've got:
Nick Richards, who ideally is either 3rd string or not on your roster.
Mark Williams... a young talented center entering his 4th year... who averages about 30 games played per season.
Maluach, a promising EIGHTEEN year old big, lots of stuff to like but it's hard to expect a big man that young to make an impact for a bit.
and Oso, who, IMO, is more of a PF, I seem to like him waaaaaaaay more than most here, I think he will land as somewhere between a rich man's Luke Walton and Boris Diaw. He doesn't fill the stat sheet but he does all the little things extremely well. And, regardless, I think Oso is a PF.
IMO, we should cut or trade Richards and resign Plumlee. I think he'd be find wavering between 2nd string and end of bench and he was, by a wide margin, our most effective big last season anyway.

To clarify, ideally he’d play that position, but I think his complete lack of any outside shot makes that impossible. Unless Maluach develops his 3 ball to be a legit threat you just can’t have two guys incapable of spacing the floor on the court at the same time in today’s nba.

It seems some Suns people interviewed hinted Maluach could eventually play multiple positions. That would be interesting. He grew up playing soccer. Kids that do that usually have good footwork and foot speed. He looks a lot more mobile to me than most young center prospects. It will be interesting.

This takes some luster off the Maluach pick, if the Suns were that far off early in the draft.
Also, I loved the Suns drafting Fleming at #31.
I didn't think Maluch would be there at #10, so I had Sorber and Fleming as players I wanted there.

The scouting video presented @SunsTzu was excellent.
It would have been nice if fans had a chance to thoroughly explore scouting reports prior to the draft, but the Suns acquired the 10th pick too late to properly do so. Besides, no one though Maluach would slide that far.
A few things stuck out to me about Maluach. He is far more athletic than I dreamed and this is an 18-year player that already plays mature with natural instincts.
He is mobile and can play inside and out. Also, he is fantastic at setting screens. This alone is going to help a lot.
Maluach has huge hands and catches the ball well. He is a shot deterrent, forcing bad shots inside, which may be just as important as protecting the rim. His measurements are massively good.
I also have to love his offensive rebounding and ability to recover on defense.
His offensive skills are just gravy, as he is best suited to play near the basket.

It's his agility testing that concerns me, tested worse than other behemoths like Zikarsky and Yang, but I guess he is more of a smooth athlete than explosive.
If he ends up being a pure drop big on defense it will really limit him.
