It’s official: Suni Lee is back. The two-time Olympic champion is making her return to gymnastics, after dropping a hype video on social media featuring her career highlights.
Lee’s comeback to the mats comes two years out from the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.
The comeback will reportedly be filmed in a documentary by Fanatics Studios.

“I’m back,” Lee wrote on Instagram while sharing the announcement. “I know what I’m capable of. I’m willing to do whatever it takes to get there… This is more than a comeback, stay tuned.”
Lee burst onto the scene during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, when she was just 17 years old. She won gold in the individual all-around competition, while earning silver in team competition and bronze on the uneven bars. She was named Female Athlete of the Year by Sports Illustrated in 2021 and was honored in Time 100 as one of the 100 most influential people in the world.
Despite being diagnosed with a rare chronic kidney disease in 2022, Lee was able to fight through to earn her spot in the 2024 Paris Olympics, earning gold in the team competition and bronze medals in the individual all-around and uneven bars.

Now, it looks like she has her eyes set on another Olympic run.
Outside of her Olympic success, Lee is a two-time US national champion and an NCAA champion. She joins Kyla Ross and Madison Kocian as the only three female gymnasts to win NCAA, Olympic, and World championships. We can’t wait to see what comes next when she returns to competition.
