Suggs 24 sacks 73 total tackles

Leftwich 30 TDs 4268 yards

Using the logic that 24 sacks don't happen on accident then we should sign Thomas Burke to a long term contract. Lock him up! 22 sacks don't happen on accident or is it just when it gets over 23 that it doesnt happen on accident.

Well----Using that logic---how many TD's did Leftwich actually score and how many of those yards did he get himself---hardly any, because he kept throwing the ball to other people who had to do all the work. That proves that he's just plain lazy. Suggs on the other hand had to get all those sacks by himself.:D :D

Settle down, endzone.

Tom Burke was universally regarded to be a marginal prospect coming out of college. Terrell Suggs, in the opinion of every single personnel man and draft "expert" in the world, is regarded as a Top 10 pick. Not because of his stats, but because of his talent and potential.

If stats made people prospects, Corey Moore and Tom Burke would have been top-5 picks, not 3rd rounders. It is an unfair oversimplification to say that people are casting Suggs in the top 10 because of his stats. That's not true.

The NCAA's second leading sacker last year, the dude from Troy State, is being forecast to go in rounds 5-7.

Ok, you can question my logic, but we will see in the end.

I like them both, so if you are accusing me of anything, accuse me of being squarely on the fence.

Why are you being so passive-aggressive? Why don't you just go ahead and call me an idiot? Or call me an a--hole?

And as long as we're talking about bull$hit logic, why are Suggs's 24 sacks a bunch of baloney but Leftwich's 4200 yards against Akron and Toledo and Ohio University relevant?

Either stats matter or they don't. Pick one.

Yes I am oversimplifying to simply be sarcastic. I am on the fence too but I find all the arguements for both Leftwich and Suggs funny. Seriously a scout saying a guy is a top 10 pick doesnt mean diddley squat, there are soooo many first round busts and late round steals this is far from a science. Both of them were good in college and I hope whichever one we pick is good in the Pro's. No offense Krang I just had to make fun of the "doesnt happen on accident" comment.

Didn't say they were.

Endzone, I didn't bring on this attack, you did.

I have never done anything to you, yet you start a thread attacking me. That's poor behavior for a moderator that's for sure.

And Ed makes great points. If Suggs huge games against PAC-10 teams and K-State don't matter, than Leftwich's games (and were talking 10 games) against absolute patsies doesn't matter.

A scout saying a guy is a top 10 pick doesn't make him a lock, but when 1,000 scouts agree that a player is a first-round talent, it becomes unfair to compare him to a guy like Tom Burke who was considered to be "nothing special" even though he had tons of sacks.

It's alright. But I think his stats do matter, and the scouts evaluations do also. Thomas Burke had around 20 sacks, but scouts clearly knew he was nothing special. The scouts know that Suggs is probably something special, so I think it is apples and oranges.

I wasn't sure! :D

I wasn't that mad, or anything, I actually like to see my points openly challenged. It makes for good arguments!

Burke had 22 sacks. I only brought it up because "it doesn't happen on accident"

I was comparing the two to be facetious. You can not show sarcasm on the net. I would love to have Suggs or Leftwich. I will be happy with either and I think like you said it would be great to get BOTH somehow.

Did you hear Bob Kemp and Evan Ann Dean the other day when they were talking about Burke. They basically were saying that there was suscipion that Burke was roiding in college....

I don't know if you remember, but Burke looked promising his rookie year....until Tobin wanted him to "bulk up" and he turned into a enormously fat, injury-prone joke.

Actually I only listen to Kemp on my ride home at about 2:45. I listen to almost the entire FTB show.

DE's do not get all those sacks by themselves. There are some hard working interior lineman pushing that pocket back and allowing the hero DE to get the glory.
