On Ch 12 news, there was a story that Terrelle Suggs was involved in fight today outside a 3-on-3 tournament. They say Phoenix police want to talk to him. They don't know if he's a suspect or a victim, but they say he was definitely a witness. According to witness statements here's what happened:

1. Suggs went to pick up his cousin at the tournament.

2. Guys were giving his cousin crap, Suggs tried to step in between and be a peacemaker.

3. As Suggs walked away, a guy hit him in the back of the head with a piece of rebar.

4. There was a fight, one witness said Suggs was pummeling a dude, probably the one who hit him with the pipe.

5. Somebody with Suggs grabbed a bat and cracked someone on the head with it.

6. Three guys went to the hospital in their own car. Suggs went home and took a nap, but had some headaches according to his agent.

7. His agent said he will cooperate with police.

I heard that too. I hope he is alright. It sounds like he was innocent the fight. Someone hits me over the head with a piece of rebar, I will need more than a nap to recover.

It wasn't a piece of rebar. They said it was a rebar bender which is heavier. It's used to bend the rebar. It kind of looks like a conduit bender if you've ever seen one of those. The fact that Suggs was able to get back at the guy after being tagged with something like that means that he is a real brute. Any normal person would have been out cold and probably would have required hospitalization.

Holy crap. If it went down this way, it's definitely self-defense. That sort of thing can kill people.

All he needed was a nap after being hit in the head with a rebar bender?

I still get headaches from getting kicked in the face in a bar fight two years ago.

He is one tough guy.

Regardless, I think it is safe to say that Suggs has had a pretty crappy week.

I would be cautious hearing only one side of the story. The injured person said that Suggs hit him first. And players who want to be drafted in the first few rounds need to be mature enough to walk away from trouble when it presents itself.

I am over 50 years old but if someone hits me in the head with anything its on. I would not walk away and give them a second chance.

 But Graves, Bidwill and Mac are dancing the jig. Perfect timing. Even if Suggs is as innocent as it sounds, this is a character thing that teams will have to look at--and if anybody's on the fence as to whom to choose, it might make the difference.

I hope he's okay, though. Sounds pretty serious, getting hit on the head with a hunk of iron.

Looks like #6 is looking good. Suggs will go a long way to helping our DL and getting a pass rush.

The independent witness who was quoted by Ch 12 last night seems to support Suggs' version of the events rather than the other guys.

Sounds like some typical insecure losers decided to mess with the star athlete, the usual "Ooh, Mr Big Shot, you think you're better than us" behavior. I don't think this incident was Suggs's fault, at least not from the information released to the public.

My bigger concern is how dumb Suggs is to have been playing pickup basketball a month before the draft and risking injury. Remember when Tai Streets blew a knee a week before the draft playing b-ball?

I believe that Streets ruptured his achillies to be technical. Also, I read that Suggs was picking up his cousin who was playing in the hoops tourney. I don't think that Suggs himself was playing.

It’s too early with too little information to say who is at fault in the Suggs incident, but my question would be does this scare the Bidwills off in drafting Suggs? The Bidwills seem to shy away from players with potential problems. They didn’t renew contracts of drug offenders like Boston and Jamir Miller. Pittman was gone the year after he beat his wife. The Bidwills didn’t pay Thomas Jones when he was in a bar fight, and I’m still unclear of all the details of who was at fault in the Jones fight because I thought the police said a report was never filed. I’m not positive of that though. So my question is, does this scare the Cardinals off from drafting Suggs?

First Pittman never beat his wife, he just scared the crap out of her a couple times.

As for your point I was thinking the same thing, they do seem to stay away or get rid problem players.

I would like to have seen everyone's response if the incudent had involved Boston. He'd get ripped left and right no matter who's story you want to believe.Suggs definately has hurt himself this week. The Chicago tribune has an article on how the Bears are totLLY off him now.Of course,a 4.5 40 next week will change all that.
