VfB Stuttgart started pre-season training on Thursday, with board member for sport Fabian Wohlgemuth not giving out a goal for the upcoming campaign and also relaxed about the summer transfer window.
Wohlgemuth said that Stuttgart "have neither pressure to act nor pressure to sell" and that they don't plan any hasty action on the market.
Stuttgart finished fourth in the Bundesliga to qualify for the Champions League and reached the German Cup final they lost against league champions Bayern Munich.
Wohlgemuth did not want to set goals for the season as he preferred to emphasise development of the team.
“We’ve done well by not peddling around with our goals. We want to embody our ambitions and help the group grow," he said. “If the group shows that it wants to work at the highest level, success will follow automatically.”
Coach Sebastian Hoeness does not have all players available yet as the World Cup players, including the Germany trio of Deniz Undav, Jamie Leweling and Angelo Stiller, are still on holiday.
Lorenz Assignon is recovering from shoulder surgery while Ramon Hendriks and Jeff Chabot are training individually following injuries.
Stuttgart start the season with a German Cup match at third division Hansa Rostock on August 21 and start the Bundesliga season seven days later at champions Bayern.
