BELGRADE, SERBIA - AUGUST 01: (R-L) Navajo Stirling of New Zealand punches Jan Blachowicz of Poland in a light heavyweight fight during the UFC Fight Night event at Belgrade Arena on August 01, 2026 in Belgrade, Serbia. (Photo by Ed Mulholland/Zuffa LLC)

Jan Blachowicz vs. Navajo Stirling squared off in a Light Heavyweight bout earlier tonight (Sat., Aug. 1, 2026) inside Belgrade Arena in Belgrade, Serbia for UFC Belgrade.

Stirling opened the fight with a lot of low kicks, trying to draw Blachowicz forward into counters. Instead, Blachowicz cracked him with a left hook and wobbled the knees of his younger foe. Stirling recovered and continued to attack at distance, finding jabs and low kicks. Out of nowhere, Stirling stepped deep into a 1-2 and floored the former champion!

Blachowicz hit the canvas in a bloody heap. Stirling smashed some elbows then stood over Blachowicz, hammering away with powerful straight punches. Before too long, the referee was forced to intervene and save the veteran.

Wow! Did anyone expect that? Stirling was favored to defeat Blachowicz despite the short-notice nature of the booking, but he’s not known for his power or finishing ability. He’s never smoked anyone on the feet like that in the Octagon, let alone an opponent the calibre of Jan Blachowicz. It’s far and away the biggest win of Stirling’s young career, and the Kiwi is now a title threat.

Who’s next?
