Golden State Warriors forward Jimmy Butler suffered a pelvic contusion in Game 2 against the Houston Rockets and was forced to exit the game. The Warriors, who are tied with the Rockets at 1-1, are listing Butler as questionable to play in Game 3, which is Saturday.

Without Butler, Golden State lost Game 2 to Houston by 15 points. The Warriors need to win Games 3 and 4 to keep home-court advantage in the best-of-seven series against the Rockets.

Warriors fans got some good news on Friday, as Golden State head coach Steve Kerr told local reporters that he's “relatively optimistic” about Butler playing in Game 3.

The Warriors acquired Butler from the Miami Heat. Butler appeared in 30 games with Golden State after the trade. The All-Star forward averaged 17.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.9 assists, 1.7 steals and 0.3 blocks and helped the Warriors go 23-7.

In Game 1 against the Rockets, Butler put up 25 points, seven rebounds, six assists and five steals in 42 minutes while shooting 10-of-19 from the field, 1-of-2 from beyond the arc and 4-of-6 from the free-throw line.

Butler, 35, took the Heat to the NBA Finals twice (2020, 2023). He has career postseason averages of 21.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 1.7 steals and 0.6 blocks.

It will be fascinating to see if Butler plays in Game 3. The six-time All-Star took a nasty fall in Game 2 and was wincing in pain as he walked toward the locker room.
