Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry continued to add to his legacy during Game 3 of the team's first-round playoff series against the Houston Rockets on Saturday, April 26.
Curry has played in six NBA Finals and won four championships over the course of his 16-year career. On Saturday, in the middle of his 150th postseason appearance, Curry upped his playoff scoring total to 4,047 points, which vaulted him ahead of San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker into 10th on the all-time list in that statistical category.
"Steph Curry climbs another rank in the record books, now 10th in playoff points in NBA history ," the ClutchPoints X account posted.
Curry's longevity is nothing short of astounding given his diminutive stature compared to the average NBA player.
That isn't to say that the Warriors star hasn't worked hard to add muscle and durability to his game, but he remains listed at 6-feet, 2-inches tall and just 185 pounds. Curry also dealt with chronic ankle problems early in his career, which threatened to derail what is now obviously a Hall of Fame trajectory whenever he eventually retires.
Curry turned 37 years old in March and remains under contract in Golden State for the next two seasons, at which point he will be 39. He figures to have several more opportunities to add to his postseason scoring total, as the Warriors have a reasonable chance of advancing beyond the first round and will play at least two more playoff games after Saturday no matter what.
The team's addition of Jimmy Butler ahead of the February trade deadline should also improve its chances of making the playoffs in each of the next couple of campaigns.
Next on the NBA's all-time playoff scoring list ahead of Curry in ninth place is Los Angeles Lakers great Jerry West, who scored 4,457 career postseason points. Current Lakers star LeBron James leads the category with 8,240 points and counting.
