During a game last December, there was an incident between Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf and a Detroit Lions fan. Charges will not be filed.
The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office announced Friday that it will not pursue a criminal complaint against Metcalf following an investigation into the incident between Metcalf and Ryan Kennedy.
Along the sideline railing, CBS cameras captured Metcalf in an exchange with a gentleman wearing a blue wig and a blue-and-black shirt during the second quarter of an eventual Steelers victory over the Lions 29-24 on December 21st.
Kennedy had leaned over the rail, and Metcalf swiped at the fan, not making any contact. The NFL would suspend Metcalf for two games for the incident. Officials spent months reviewing a warrant request, including going over videotape of the incident and interviewing Kennedy, security, and fans who sat near Kennedy during the game.
According to NFL.com, a defamation lawsuit filed by Kennedy against Metcalf is still pending. In this particular incident, the warrant request was denied because the fan did not seek medical attention for any injury.
