On Monday, the Pittsburgh Steelers announced they were releasing second-year defensive back Ryan Watt. The team released a statement on the release. Watts was a rookie last season but missed the entire year after suffering a neck injury. A neck injury that could now cost him his career.
Watts was placed on IR last season after he suffered a neck injury in the team's final preseason game. According to the team's press release, after consulting with medical professionals, it was determined that it was in Watts' best interest to discontinue playing football.
Watts had a bright future ahead of him in the NFL and now we are all hoping he can make a full recovery and be successful in whatever endeavor comes next. Everyone here at Steelers Wire wishes Watts the best for him and his family.
