The Pittsburgh Steelers will take the field for the first time in exhibition play this Thursday when they host the Green Bay Packers to kickoff their preseason. And while the Steelers will be on the surface of Acrisure Stadium for the first time since January, it doesn’t sound like first-round pick Max Iheanachor will be joining them.

The rookie offensive tackle suffered an upper-body injury last Thursday, which has kept him from being a full participant ever since. Head coach Mike McCarthy said on Monday that he wouldn’t be practicing, but he was seen on the field in pads doing individual drills. Speaking to the medial on Tuesday, McCarthy said that Iheanachor playing Thursday isn’t likely.

“I do not see him playing Thursday night, but he’s getting close,” McCarthy said.

Should Iheanachor officially be ruled out, that will open up more snaps for Broderick Jones, Jack Driscoll, and Doug Nester, as well as current starter Dylan Cook.
