Steelers, Jalen Ramsey face $5.5 million contract, roster decision originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have a big decision to make on Jalen Ramsey on Friday.
If he makes it through the day on Pittsburgh's roster, he's probably set for the season ahead. But that's a big if.
This is how Steelers Depot explained it on X:
"If you're curious about the future status of Jalen Ramsey on the heels of the Jaquan Brisker signing, Friday is a big commitment day for him. Ramsey is due a $2M roster bonus on March 13. Additionally, $3.5M of his base salary becomes fully guaranteed on March 13. If he survives Friday, he's likely going to remain."
That's $5.5 million for the Steelers to decide upon one way or the other.
And as the post mentions, the Steelers did sign safety Jaquan Brisker from the Chicago Bears on Thursday evening. That crowds things a little bit in the secondary in a way that would allow them to move on from Ramsey if they so choose.

Ramsey is 31 years old now but remains a versatile player on the back end of the defense who can line up and make plays from a lot of different spots.
The eight-time Pro Bowler, including 2025, was in just his first season with the Steelers, but he played in all 17 games and had an impact.
Ramsey finished the season with an interception, eight passes defensed, 3.0 sacks and 88 tackles.
Having also played for the Jaguars, Rams and Dolphins, Ramsey would get interest if the Steelers cut him and he reached free agency.
And given that March 13 deadline, which is today (Friday), we'll know what the next steps are for Ramsey very soon.
