Steelers' Kaleb Johnson gets funniest assessment at OTAs before 2nd season originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Kaleb Johnson was a college football superstar at Iowa.
In his rookie season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, though, he hardly played, and even when he did, he didn't make much of an impression.
That sets this up as a big offseason to prepare for a prove-it second year in the NFL.
Johnson is at OTAs this week, which has meant a few looks here and there at what he's been up to.
Included in Johnson's activities was this drill of dodging a couple of rolling tires:

That brought about maybe the best response ever from @OTL_FF:
"If the defense ever starts rolling tires at us, Kaleb's our guy."
No notes on that one. Perfect.
Clearly, to point out the super duper obvious, the defense is not going to start rolling tires at the Steelers offense.
If they did, the 42-year old Aaron Rodgers might have a tough time getting out of the way, anyway.
Johnson will have to do a lot more than dodge tires to get on the field and make an impact in 2026, but the Steelers have to maintain their belief in him. It'd be a failure of a draft pick if Johnson never does much of anything in Pittsburgh.
It can be easy to give up on a player after one season, but everyone develops and adjusts to the NFL at a different pace. Johnson may still have his time to shine -- and hey, maybe dodging some tires helps his cause.
