Steelers' GM offers intriguing Aaron Rodgers future update originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have made it clear this offseason that they are willing to wait for Aaron Rodgers to make his decision on what he'll do in 2026.
Whether he retires or plays on, Pittsburgh appears content to play the waiting game, and even though many thought Rodgers would make his decision before the draft, it is now becoming apparent that the Steelers won't find that out before the draft.
Well, at least that was what we took from Steelers general manager Omar Khan as he spoke to the media.
"We've had some great communication with Aaron," Khan said via NFL.com. "Nothing's changed, but it's all been positive and good. I said this to you guys in March, he knows how we feel about him and we know how he feels about us."

Rodgers holds all the cards
And given that it is his Hall of Fame career that he's debating whether to continue or not, Rodgers had earned the right to take his time.
But at some point, the franchise has to ask for his decision, because it could impact what they do in the draft. If Rodgers says he isn't returning, then Alabama's Ty Simpson is in play.
If he does return, then the Steelers can look for the best player available when it is their turn to pick, so we can see how Rodgers' decision can impact Pittsburgh's draft plans.
However, it still feels like the franchise is content to wait, and Mike McCarthy, as draft week begins, still has no idea who will be his starting quarterback in 2026.
