The Aaron Rodgers waiting game took the Pittsburgh Steelers on a rollercoaster of emotions this past weekend — from several reports claiming the 42-year-old quarterback was scheduled to visit with the team, to other reports dismissing that claim entirely. Another report surfaced soon after that stated Rodgers was, in fact, in Pittsburgh, but he didn't meet with the Steelers — and ESPN's Adam Schefter has addressed this insane situation.

On Monday, Schefter made a guest appearance on The Pat McAfee Show and revealed that neither the Steelers nor Rodgers' agent knew of the plan to visit Pittsburgh this weekend, which may be the strangest update to the waiting game so far.

“When the report surfaced last week, that he was back in town, visiting the Steelers, nobody in the organization knew about it,” Schefter said. “And his agent didn't know about it.”

Schefter also added that May 18 is the date to watch for a potential Rodgers signing, and that he still believes that the “chances are he comes back” to the Steelers in 2026.

This is unreal. Schefter confirms Kaboly report. Steelers didn’t know Rodgers was coming to Pittsburgh. And get this. His agent didn’t know either. WTH is going on here??? pic.twitter.com/wDzQusSwl2

The Steelers' packed offseason schedule continues when the team kicks off OTAs on May 18, which hopefully will give fans a little more clarity on Rodgers' decision for the upcoming season.
