Unatego graduate Braeden Johnson made the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Team, one of three Oneonta players to earn the honor. In addition, Oneonta graduate Nolan Stark was named the team’s Player of the Game on Saturday, July 11, after a dominant performance at the plate in a 22-1 win over visting Boonville at Damaschke Field.
Cather Vincent Duffy and outfielder P.J. Strand also made the All-Star Team for the Outlaws.
Johnson, who just completed his junior season at Cornell, has started six games and appear in seven for Oneonta this summer. He is 3-1 with a 3.29 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP in 27.1 innings. He has struck out 28 batters while giving up 19 hits and 19 walks.
Duffy, who just completed his freshman year at Seton Hall, is batting .375 in 21 games with 15 runs scored and 11 RBI. His on-base percentage is .471 and his slugging percentage is .500.
Strand, who just completed his sophomore year at Marist College, is batting .323 with eight RBI and 12 runs scored in 19 games. Although he has played all three outfield positions for the Outlaws, as well as first base, Strand was selected as a designated hitter.
Oneonta 22, Boonville 1
Stark went 3-for-4 with a home run as Oneonta routed the visiting Lumberjacks on Saturday.
Stark had four RBI and scored three runs. He was a double short of hitting for the cycle.
Johnson got the win, pitching 3.1 innings and getting three strikeouts while giving up one run on five walks and one hit. Colby Lintell and Maverick Rabe finished the game for the Outlaws. Each gave up just one hit.
Fabio Marquez went 2-for-2 with four runs scored and three RBI for the Outlaws, which also got four RBI from Colton Penner, three RBI from Daniel Tome III and a double from Zachary Rowe.
Oneonta (10-16-1) played at Saugerties on Monday, July 13, in a game that finished after deadline. The Outlaws host Boonville at 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 14, and will play at Utica on Wednesday, July 15.
