The St. Joseph Academy softball team fell short in its quest for a state title.
The Wildcats took an early two-run lead, but couldn't keep up the momentum during a 10-5 loss to DePaul in a rematch of last year's state Non-Public B championship game at Newark's Ivy Hill Park.
St. Joseph finished its season at 25-4, which included its seventh straight sectional title and a second consecutive Cape-Atlantic League Tournament championship.

The game couldn't have had a better start for the Wildcats as junior Kaylin Marshall launched a two-run homer just inside the poll in the first inning.
DePaul (20-8) took a 3-2 lead in the third and broke the game open with a five-run fifth inning.

St. Joseph senior Alaina Dorsey went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a stolen base in her final scholastic game. Dorsey, who will be playing her home games on the same field next season for Seton Hall University, finished her high school career as one of the best to ever don the Wildcat uniform.
Isabella Ramos, Lanie Giovinazzi and Tenley VanArtsdalen also had RBIs for St. Joseph.
