The Spurs officially announced the signing of veteran forward Tobias Harris on Monday, the first day for NBA teams to finalize free agent deals.
Per team policy, contract terms were not announced. But a league source confirmed last week Harris would receive a two-year deal worth $31 million.
The Spurs are counting on the 6-foot-8, 230-pound Harris to provide depth and rebounding at the power forward spot.
Harris reportedly also received interest from several other teams, including the Los Angeles Lakers and the L.A. Clippers in the Western Conference.
"The urgency to win a championship," Harris told HoopsHype last week via text message when asked why he chose to sign with the defending West champions. "It felt like both our goals aligned."
Harris, who is set to turn 34 on July 15, spent the past two seasons with Detroit. He averaged 13.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists while starting 63 games in 2025-26, helping the Pistons reach the Eastern Conference semifinals, where they lost in seven games to Cleveland.
In the postseason, Harris averaged 18.1 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 34.6 minutes. For his career, Harris has averaged 15.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists in 31.4 minutes over 1,033 games (913 starts) with Milwaukee, Orlando, the Clippers, Philadelphia and Detroit.
The native of Dix Hills, N.Y., will enter his 16th season as one of six active NBA players with 1,000-plus games, 16,000-plus points, 6,000-plus rebounds and 500-plus blocks. The others are LeBron James, Kevin Durant, James Harden, Brook Lopez and Nikola Vucevic.
Harris will wear No. 23 for the Spurs.
