FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, PA (WBRE/WYOU)- Southern Columbia kicked off the high school football season with their first practice of 2026.

The Tigers took the field for the first time since their 2025 PIAA Class 2A Championship win. That win marked the 15th state championship in program history. 14 starters, nine on offense, five on defense, return from that squad.

Head Coach Jim Roth returns for his 47th season on the sidelines. He has been the head coach since 1984, and joined the coaching staff in 1980.

The team looks to replace Brayden Andrews who has over 1,500 yards and 23 TDS with the last of the Garcia brothers, Grady, who ran for over 1,00 yards and had 20 TDs.

Ayden Hockenbroch returns at QB as well throwing for 17 TDs and 1,290 yards.

Defensively, the team will look to fill some holes along the defensive line, but will have the steady play of Chase Williams who led returning players in both sacks with six, and tackles with 86.

The team kicks their season off at home against Wyomissing at 7:00 p.m.
