The South Bay Lakers are the hottest team in the G League right now. They took a nine-game winning streak into Wednesday's game against the Iowa Wolves, and they used a balanced attack to keep that streak alive.
They led almost wire to wire and ended up on top, 123-116. The Lakers shot 52.4% from the field and 39.4% from 3-point range, and they turned 20 Iowa turnovers into 26 points. Seven players scored in double figures for them, beginning with Drew Timme, who was their leading scorer with 20 points and also turned in nine rebounds, five assists and three blocks.
After a sensational showing in South Bay's last game, rookie forward Adou Thiero made just two of six shot attempts and spent quite a bit of the game in foul trouble. Dalton Knecht made an appearance in this contest, and in 33 minutes, he shot 5-of-13 from the field and 2-of-5 from 3-point range. He finished with 18 points, seven rebounds, four assists, two steals and one block.
Bronny James made six of his nine shot attempts and three of his four 3-point tries, giving him 17 points, to go along with two rebounds, three assists and two steals.
The 20-8 Lakers still trail the first-place Mexico City Capitanes by half a game in the G League's Western Conference standings.
