Former Indiana Fever player Sydney Colson picked her side with a social media comment on DiJonai Carrington’s hard foul on Sophie Cunningham.
Carrington was ejected from the Chicago Sky’s 86-90 loss to the Indiana Fever for a hard foul on Cunningham as she went up for an open layup in the first quarter.
Carrington added fuel to the fire with her postgame comments, and now members of the WNBA fraternity are declaring their sides.

Former Fever guard Sydney Colson took to Threads with a cheeky message where she made her allegiance with Carrington clear with a clever pun.
“Love a trans foul.”

The comment clearly refers to Cunningham’s recent stance on trans athletes in the WNBA, with a pun on the foul being a transition foul.
Colson was on the Fever as Cunningham’s teammate for the 2025 season until a torn ACL in August 2025 ended her tenure with the franchise.
The 37-year-old isn’t on a roster for this season, but has made it clear that she doesn’t want to endorse her former teammate’s political views while supporting Carrington’s foul.
What happened between Sophie Cunningham and Dijonai Carrington?
With under a minute-and-a-half left in the first quarter of the Sky vs. Fever game, Cunningham was looking to convert an open transition layup created by a steal on the other end of the court.
Carrington was the closest defender to the hoop, but not in a spot where she could get legal positioning for a contest.
As a result, she smacked Cunningham across the head and neck after she jumped up to convert the layup.
Carrington took to Threads to post ‘White Privilege,’ highlighting the very clear difference between her and Cunningham.
The foul was rightfully judged as a Flagrant 2, but the open intentionality behind it might force the WNBA to consider further disciplinary measures, especially with the negative spotlight over the league right now.
