The Boston Red Sox returned to the win column in a big way with a 9-1 lopsided win over the Cleveland Guardians on Saturday.

Boston gave the ball to Sonny Gray, who’s been stellar this season, especially since returning from the IL. On Saturday, Gray struggled early as Cleveland scored their lone run in the first inning on five pitches as Travis Bazzana and José Ramírez hit back-to-back doubles to open the game.

After the rough start, Gray said he made an adjustment with how he was going to pitch, which ended up working.

“It just felt like we needed to make an adjustment,” Gray said postgame on Saturday. “It felt like we were getting away with it in the first three innings. They were all looking to yank everything, so being able to make the adjustment of everything was nice.”

Gray allowed just two more hits the rest of the game, as the right-hander went six innings, allowing one run on four hits, while striking out seven. Gray is now 6-1 with a 3.06 ERA in 10 starts this season.

With the win over the Guardians, Boston improved to 24-33 and will look for the series win on Sunday at 1:40 p.m. ET.
