NCAA transfer portal news continues to roll in as the month of April winds down. The portal officially closed April 22, but players who remain in it are now finalizing their decisions.

One of those players is the son of NBA legend Juwan Howard, best known for his time with the Fab Five at Michigan before being selected in the first round of the 1994 NBA Draft.

After a successful NBA career, Howard returned to Michigan as head coach of the Wolverines. He led the program from 2019-24 and guided the team to an Elite Eight appearance in the 2021 NCAA Tournament.

Now, his son is set to continue his college basketball journey. After five years at Michigan, he’ll have a new home for the 2025-26 season.

According to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports. Howard has committed to Fordham.

He began his college career during the 2020-21 season under his father, appearing in 11 games. His most active year came during the 2022-23 season when he played in 30 games and averaged 1.2 points per contest.

Despite his father being fired by the University of Michigan, Jace chose to remain with the Wolverines for another season. Under new head coach Dusty May, the 6-foot-7 forward appeared in just five games.

Now, Jace will transfer to Fordham. The Rams have not been to the NCAA Tournament since 1992 and don't have an NCAA Tournament win since 1971. Last season, the Rams struggled, finishing 3-15 in Atlantic 10 play and 12-21 overall. It was the final season for head coach Keith Urgo.

Fordham will be led by a new head coach for the 2025-26 season. Mike Magpayo takes over after five seasons at UC Riverside, where he compiled an 89-63 record and was named Big West Coach of the Year in 2023.

Meanwhile, Michigan has been active in the transfer portal, bringing in big men Aday Mara from UCLA and Morez Johnson Jr. from Illinois to help fill the roster spots vacated by departing players like Howard.
